Every Spring, students attend our annual Spring Retreat, which is a time of prayer, deep reflection on God’s word, worship, and fun.

Vol Groups

We believe that the Christian life is one that is lived devoted to prayer, the study of God’s word, and serving others, all of which takes place within a community. To facilitate our goal of loving God, people, our campus, and our city, members of the CSC are divided into small groups (with no more than 12 students), called Volunteer Groups. Within these groups, students meet for weekly prayer and Bible studies, service projects, or fellowship opportunities on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday evenings.

During Volunteer Group meetings focused on prayer and Bible study, select students will lead an inductive, dialogical study on a particular Biblical book, theme, or topic. The focus of our Fall 2019 Volunteer Groups is the “Foundations of Faith,” which is a study that provides students with the fundamentals of the Christian faith and Christian living as well as the materials that they need to evangelize on UT’s campus.

At Volunteer Group meetings focused on serving, students have several opportunities to serve God on and off UT’s campus. Two unique service projects are based at our sponsoring church, Laurel Church of Christ. Tuesday nights at Laurel at 6:30 PM students can help with Third Step Ministry, which serves those recovering from addiction to chemical substances. Weekday afternoons and summers students can volunteer at Laurel’s Just Lead program, which ministers to at-risk and low income youth living in Knoxville by providing opportunities for them to grow spiritually, academically, and socially.

Finally, Volunteer Group meeting focused on fellowship foster relationships among students by developing what the early church called koinonia. Sometimes these meetings are eating meals together, at other times they are group game nights, etc. Above all, these Volunteer Group meetings provide opportunities for students to grow closer as the family of God that we are.

New Series Dinners

As the family of God, we believe that we are to welcome each other and anyone to come and to sit at our table. The first week of each new series at Mid-Week Summit, we provide a dinner for those that wish to stick around after and join.

Fun & Fellowship

In addition to our worship services, Bible studies, Volunteer Group meetings, and Breakfast of Champions, we have weekly student led fun activities that include: intramural sports (basketball, flag football etc.), tailgates (GO VOLS!), parties (Homecoming, square dances etc.), game nights (board games etc.) etc.

Anderson-Carter Student Library

With the help of members at Laurel, the Anderson-Carter Student Library was founded at the CSC! The Library is dedicated to the original boosters of the CSC (1956): Joe Anderson and Harvey Carter! We are proud to make these books and videos available to students.

CSC Apartment

Every year after an application process (that starts at the end of the Fall semester), we select two exceptional students (of the same gender) to live in the lovely apartment above the CSC for the following school year. It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, a dining room, a full kitchen, and a laundry room. The apartment comes with two parking spots right in the heart of campus!
